The Monuments in Kythira

Katouni
Between the homonymous village and Kato Livadi in the south of the island, there is the largest stone bridge in Greece with a total length of 110m., width 6m. and height 15m. It was built in 1826 during the British occupation with drawings by the English commissioner, engineer McPheil, and consists of 13 arches. According to rumors at the time, the bridge was built because McFeil had fallen in love with a young girl who lived in the nearby Katouni settlement.
