1. Car Rental Terms

Payment Methods
Payment can be made in cash at our office when you pick up your vehicle, or by debit card, credit card, or bank transfer.

Driver's Age & Licence Requirements
The minimum age for renting any vehicle category is 21 years. The driver must hold a valid driving licence that was issued at least two (2) years prior to the rental date. We happily welcome drivers over 75 years of age for an additional one-off fee of €10 per rental agreement, provided they hold a valid driving licence.

Security Deposit
No security deposit or credit card hold is required. However, renters remain responsible for any applicable excess amount according to the selected insurance option in the event of damage.

Additional Driver
One additional driver can be added to your rental free of charge, as long as they meet the age and licence requirements and are listed on the rental agreement.

Fuel Policy
Fuel costs are covered by the renter. The vehicle is provided with a specific fuel level and should be returned with the same amount. If returned with less fuel, you'll be charged for the difference. Please note that we are unable to provide refunds for excess fuel left in the tank.

Child Seats
Child seats are available on request and subject to availability. We highly recommend booking these in advance.

Cancellation & Modification Policy
We don't charge any cancellation fees. We simply ask that you let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel or modify your booking. Any changes to your reservation may result in a price adjustment based on vehicle availability, current rates at the time of modification, and your chosen drop-off location.

Late Returns & Grace Period
Vehicles should be returned at the time stated on your rental agreement. We offer a 30-minute grace period. If the vehicle is returned later than this, an extra day's rental charge will apply.

Cleanliness Policy
We expect vehicles to be returned in a normally clean condition. If a vehicle is returned excessively dirty inside, requiring special cleaning (e.g., tough stains, heavy pet hair, mud, etc.), a cleaning fee will apply. Pets are welcome, provided they travel in a suitable carrier or with a protective seat cover to avoid damage and excess dirt.

Vehicle Category Changes
Depending on availability, we reserve the right to provide a different vehicle from the one originally booked. This will always be of the same or a higher category, at no extra cost to you.

Ferry Travel & Cross-Border Rentals
Taking the vehicle on a ferry is not permitted without prior written approval from our team. Driving the vehicle outside of Greece is strictly prohibited.

Traffic Violations & Fines
All traffic fines, administrative penalties, and consequences from traffic violations are the sole responsibility of the renter.

Accidents & Damage (Obligation to Report)
In the event of an accident, damage, or any other incident, please contact us straight away. You are required to notify our company immediately, file a report with the Police or Accident Care where necessary, and never abandon the vehicle. Please carefully follow any instructions provided by our team.

Unauthorised Drivers
For insurance purposes, the vehicle must only be driven by individuals listed on the rental agreement. Any use of the vehicle by an unauthorised driver automatically voids all insurance coverage. In such cases, the renter becomes entirely responsible for any damage or associated costs.

Loss of Documents or Keys
If the vehicle's documents or keys are lost or destroyed, the renter will be charged for their replacement.

Vehicle Theft
If the vehicle is stolen, the renter must immediately notify both our company and the police. Insurance coverage for theft is only valid if the vehicle's keys are handed over to us and all required procedures have been followed.

2. Car Insurance Coverage

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

Our Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) limits your financial liability in the event of damage to the rental vehicle, provided the damage wasn't caused by a serious violation of traffic laws.

Vehicle Groups Maximum Renter Liability
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I Up to €890
G1, I1, J Up to €1,700
K, KA, K1 Up to €2,500
L, M, M1 Up to €1,700
N, N1, KA1 Up to €2,500

Minimum Liability Insurance (CDW2)

By choosing our CDW2 option, your maximum financial liability for vehicle damage is significantly reduced to the following amounts:

Vehicle Groups Maximum Renter Liability
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, G1, H, I, I1, J, J1 Up to €150
L, M, M1 Up to €400
K, K1, KA, KA1, N, N1 Up to €890

What is NOT covered by any insurance option:

  • Damage to windows, mirrors, tyres, wheels, and the undercarriage of the vehicle.

  • Loss or destruction of the vehicle key (replacement fee: €350).

  • Any damage that occurs while transporting the vehicle on a ferry.

  • Damage caused while the driver was under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other substances.

  • Damage resulting from a deliberate or serious traffic violation, such as running a red light or stop sign, driving on the wrong side of the road, or excessive speeding.

  • Most of our vehicles are designed for normal road use. While many of Kythera's beautiful locations are easily accessible, driving on rough, unpaved or off-road tracks may result in damage that is not covered by the vehicle's insurance. We recommend using extra care when travelling on such roads.

  • Loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings left inside the vehicle.

  • Damage caused by an unauthorised or undeclared driver.

Roadside Assistance: We provide free roadside assistance for mechanical breakdowns. Additional charges only apply if the assistance is required due to the renter's negligence (e.g., changing a flat tyre, a flat battery from leaving the lights on, locking keys inside the car, or using the wrong fuel type).
